Hello all!
The article our group discussed was titled "The Digital Disconnect" and it reviewed how our students are using the internet to complete homework assignments and for general research, yet when they are in class during the day, they do not use the internet for all of their classes, and do not do research online to help them with their studies.
Our group had a great discussion about policies and priviledges that differ by district, and also by teacher.
The point was made that some of our students come into our classes being much more technosavvy than we are, and we are the ones who are supposed to help them learn how to use technology.
It was also interesting to learn that many of our students want to get much more from technology than just being directed to a specific website to find a specific answer to a specific problem. Many students want to do research and look at related sources and articles to find information on their own.
I look forward to reading your comments on what I've posted, and to your views about our discussions.

Joe,
I agree that it is not uncommon for students to be more familiar with technology than teachers, but we can teach them how to apply it in a way that is beneficial to their education.
Joe,
I like what you said about students wanting more technology in education. There is still a thirst for knowledge in today’s students, it is just that much of it is tapped into technology. I think more technology in the classroom would help with motivating the students of today. The best part is it would also help them prepare for their future. Seems like a win-win situation to me.
Hi Joe
I agree with you that teachers must teach students how to use technology in education, but the problem is that there are some teachers do not believe in using technology in education!!!
I enjoyed our group discussion about students and technology. But the discussion made me think that maybe as a CFF Coach I should survey the students to see how they would add technology into some of the teachers lessons. The students need to sit day-in and day-out listening to the same old lecturing teachers. They may come up with more technology integration ideas then I can!!
